“Was Saeth running away? That did not seem like her at all.” Nicolai put all thoughts out of his head and dropped his bow to draw his sword.
Miklos’s eyes bulged as the leading orc brushed aside the blows that rained down on him and passed the the Dwarf and Cleric as if they were no matter. Miklos knew he had to wait to allow more of the orcs into the room before his casting his spell so he grasped his staff and prepared to strike the orc attacking Nicolai. Well, it was worth a try and the orc didn’t seem to have noticed him.
Feldard bellowed a dwarven battle cry and charged down into the remaining orcs on the steps. One may have gotten past him and the cleric but the rest would not be so lucky. He swung his axe down upon the unfortunate orc in his path. The orc managed to parry the blade, and Feldard found himself facing two opponents at once.
Meanwhile, Maruc yelped as the orcblade bit into him passed his guard and armour. Well by Halav he’ll pay for turning his back on him! Maruc brought his flail round in a murderous arc at the orcs retreating back and following the momentum of the blow he pirouetted full circle to face the doorway and the next orc. The priest’s flail struck at full strength, eliminating the first of the orcish reinforcements.
Nicolai used his blazing speed to counter the enraged orc that charged at him, easily dodging the humanoid’s clumsy swordswing. Miklos’ awkward pokes with his staff provided enough of a distraction that the rogue was able to pierce the orc’s guard. He stabbed deep and ripped the orc’s innards with his short sword. He yanked the sword back out and the orc fell dead.
Only two of the orcs remained, and they were now outnumbered two-to-one. There was no sound of any more approaching warriors from either of the stairwells.
