Saeth took one hand off her sword, and readied a dagger, while composing a sentence in Orcish. Her dagger readied, she bellowed it out, “Come quickly! Your help is needed!” She tensed, ready to hurl the dagger and charge as soon the fellow at the top came around the bend of the stair.
Feldard stood with Maruc on either side of the stairway that led to the tunnels. They were battle ready as the four orcs charged up the stairs to the main hall.
Until the Hall was breached Miklos could have little effect on the situation. He kept an eye on the the door that Seath had tested and maintained a watch on the battle.
Nicolai had prepped his bow. As soon as he saw the lead orc, he fired an arrow straight into its shoulder, but the thing kept charging up the stairs.
Feldard had been waiting to hear the thwang of Nicolai’s bow before stepping forward and blocking the path. Now the dwarf swung his axe to attempt to knock the first orc in the chest and hopefully unbalance the creature enough to knock him and his fellow guardsmen back down the stairs.
But the dwarf’s swing went wild and missed the creature, who charged past him in a violent rage toward the human that had just shot him in the shoulder. Maruc stepped in and took on one of the orcs as well. The orc struck at the priest with his short sword, giving the cleric a light flesh wound for his trouble.
Miklos tried his best to keep his eyes looking in two opposite directions at either stairwell. As the battle was engaged on one side of the room, on the other side he could no longer see Saeth. She had gone into the stairwell, and then he had heard her yell something in orcish. Now, he heard no more and had lost sight of her.
