The Secret Chamber

“Looking at these pitiful individuals,” said Nicolai, “and having an idea how this Society works, I doubt they know much anyway. I think we should just bind them tightly and go through that secret door. If they are bound well enough we should be able to follow this through and report to the Tribune after, and they will still be here. I wonder how long Miklos’s Sleep will last?”

Saeth answered, “I imagine some hours, if my knowledge of the magical arts is any indication.” To be perfectly honest, Saeth was less confident than she sounded, but she still thought that pressing onward was desirable, and if the thief would push to the same end… The Elf stepped up to the now-open passageway, ready to move onward.

Feldard, hefted his axe and took up position beside the Elf at the head of the party. Seems the others wanted to move onward.. and Nicolai was right they’d likely be back by the time the Mage returned with the Tribune anyways. “I say, lets go.. Miklos is smart enough to figure out where we went”

Besides, the mage had told them he wouldn’t be of much use, being mentally exhausted and having used up the last of his spellcasting for the timebeing. So, the group of four entered the passage behind the secret exit. It was lit by small torches fixed against the wall. At the end of the narrow hallway, approximately 80 feet down was a closed door.

  2. MAJOR REVISION:

I accidentally skipped over the part where Nicolai examined the body of the executed man. Big oops! I have revised the entry “Another Secret Entrance” Here’s the part that I should have added to the end of Nicolai’s post:

“Great. Still no one to interrogate.” Nicolai made his way to the corpse of the executed man and searched it. He noticed the man’s mask was torn. Through the tears of his mask, red hair peaked through.

Please make any posts regarding this in that section:

  3. Maruc

DM: I can fully understand why Maruc & Miklos’s comments were missed off this post as they were posted within a second of each other and your new thread but it does have an effect as Maruc for one would like to get a chance to meditiate for his new spell – which would be CLW. Also as Nicolai is investigating the murdered corpse…

  4. Miklos (Mu 1)

If Miklos cannot locate a guards man in a reasonable time limit he will collar an urchun and pay him a few copper to deliver the message for him. Miklos was rather assuming the others would be recuperating a time after the battle and investigating the corpses/unconcsious people

  5. Sorry I skipped ahead before you responded (note: I adjusted the xp reward). With 3 of the 4 posting that they wanted to move on, it seemed ok to me. Per the rules, it takes 2 hours to rest/meditate sufficiently to gain that spell, and attempting to find the leader before he gets away is probably good call.

At this point, the cat is out of the bag. If you’d like to modify Maruc’s post, I’ll be happy to incorporate it.

  6. Maruc

If there is any chance that we could catch up with the leader Maruc would take it. As a player I just rather assumed that he would be too far ahead after the battle as he disappeared half way through the lynching and the group waited for the room to almost empty before the assault began. He must be at least 10 minutes away by now.

  7. Feldard (Dwf 1)

(gee, I feel guilty continuing on now )
The dwarf saw the closed door at the end of the tunnel, glanced back at the secret entrance judging it’s thickness – all trying to determine if the battle from a few moments ago would have been overheard beyond that door. Was the leader behind that door lying in wait to spring a trap? Hmm. He sets off down the tunnel, studying the narrow hall for pits and unsafe surfaces.

  8. Saeth Tegau

Saeth tried to work up a certain distain for the Dwarf’s caution, but failed. She didn’t actually want to be injured, however impatient she tended to be at times. This time, however, she made certain not to let the Priest take the lead–after the havoc they’d wrecked before, she didn’t anticipate needing to save the day as a rearguard. She walked right on the Dwarf’s heels, more eager than anyone should’ve been in such a dank, ill-favoured tunnel.

  9. Maruc

From behind them in chamber Maruc called, “Do you not wish to await Miklos? I would rather have his support if we come across more Veiled members.”

“I myself would like to seek the guidance of Halav and do you not think that the Veiled leader has a head start on us that could put him anywhere in the city by now? I will follow now if you are confident that we have a chance.”

  10. Miklos

Has Miklos found a street urchin to pass his message on to?

  11. Nicolai (T2)

“Leave a note for Miklos, and let us get moving or we’ll lose this one, or worse allow him to find reinforcements.”
