Magic-Sight

Feldard rolled up the map and looked back to the Siswa captive. “You say that the Rahib captured others – elven maids. Where are they? Surely not in the prison here?” The dwarf looked past where the elf was bound to the cells beyond. ‘No, surely his companions would have checked the prison cells for other captives.’ “Are they being held in the forbidden area?”

“Yes, they are with the Sisters Three now,” answered the Siswa.

“Two of you have fallen, and only one may yet walk freely.” Hasan stood stock still and stared at the paper in his hand. “Merisa … Sylva…know now that the Rahib is slain and I will find you. Rahasia, though the Rahib has fallen, I fear you are not yet free of his threat.”

He folded the paper with painful care and tucked it into his cloak. He then turned solemnly to the task of sorting through the rest of the papers to see if there was anything of further interest, casting “detect magic” from his spellbook.

Miklos shook his head at the cryptic words of the Siswa Hasan and watched as he tucked a note into the folds of his cloak, then start his strange elvish incantation. It was like watching someone perform something hauntingly familiar but with an archaic edge it was studied, almost stilted yet graceful and musical. For want of a better word it was enchanting. He’d never really note Seath’s incantations, probably as most of them were cast in battle and Miklos had other things on his mind. ‘I really must share Dentiata’s spells with him.’ he thought.

Hasan scanned the room with his magic-sight. He saw a tell-tale glow emanating from Feldard’s axe, Saeth’s sword and, of course, Miklos’ wand. Other than the items possessed by his companions, he saw nothing of a magical nature within the room.

“Maruc are there any wards that we should be wary of?” he asked realizing that the priest was back in the octagonal chamber. He called to the others in the room, “There may be cleric guards, wards and glyphs, be careful!” He remained in the doorway as Nicolai discovered the secret door and drew forth the wand, just in case.

Nicolai, silently examined the door and determined that it was both unlocked and trap-free.

  • Posts from Nicolai and Saeth have been infrequent lately, and the pace of the game has slowed quite a bit. Are you growing tired of the game? I’ve had a few offers from people to join the game, so if you don’t want to keep playing, please let me know. Otherwise, just let us know if you are temporarily unavailable on the OOC page.

  • Feldard (Dwf 3)

(I’m still very much into the game, RL has probably just gotten in the way of Saeth-player and Nicolai-players ability to get online. It happens – sometimes without warning. This is where I believe your concept of anyone assuming the role of them is good. At least short term.

Feldard scowled heavily at the Siswa elf’s reply. He knew little about magic and spirits and things other than battle and engineering but he’d listened in enough to the elf’s ramblings to get the sense that those elf maids were in trouble. He stood up and paced towards the door that the skeletons had come through, frowning. He looked back towards the trio at the other end of the hall, working at a door. “Hurry it up there! We haven’t got all day”

  • Maruc winced as he got to the final stages of his rites and prepared to heal himself. The caked blood from the wound at his side and the clawmarks reminded he that soon he must rest properly. Especially as in the back of his mind was the growing concern that they would see more creatures from beyond the grave before they left this temple…

    …If they left this temple.

Although Halav incarnate is a mighy ally against dark forces he reminded himself looking at the blasted remains of the undead scattered about the room.

The minutes ticked by as the his rites drew to a close and he again summoned the healing power of his god to staunch his wounds.

Maruc stood up and stretched, “Thank you for your companionship Feldard. Shall we see what our friends are up too? After you.” Maruc followed the dwarf tracing the steps of the others. He was glad of the comany this was not a place to left alone in.

  • The long minutes stretched by as the mage watched Nicolai carefully investigate the door, he seemed satisfied at last. “I’ve Denetiata’s wand ready in case anything unforseen happens.” he edged in the room to get a good line of fire into the doorway. He took pains no to get into anyone elses way as they prepared to open the door.

  • “I see nothing magical in here,” said Hasan. “Maybe there’s more for us to see in what you’ve found, Nicolai.” And the elf moved to take up a position behind his curiously lightly armoured, surprisingly soft-footed companion.

  • Saeth/Nicolai (stand-in)

Saeth stood to the side of the doorway and paid no heed to the impatient dwarfs remark and nodded her readiness to the rogue.

At the cue, Nicolai still kneeling, opened the door – ready duck to the side if his trap-detection skills were lacking.

  • Feldard (Dwf 3)

Feldard glanced over as the Maruc finished up his prayer rite and nodded brusquely at the thanks – if anything it was HE who should be thanking the priest – ah but the cleric knew he was grateful – it didn’t need saying.
“Bah. They are only checking out the Rahibs’ quarters. Our path lies the other way ..into the Forbidden Area.” But despite his words the dwarf led the way to the hall where the others were just as they opened the door.

  • Nicolai draws unsheaths his sword, and waits for everyone to get in position before gently opening the door.

  • As the door opened, Saeth leapt through, nervously ready to face whatever lay beyond.

This is more of a “Hello, I’m still involved” post than anything… apologies for the delay, and thanks to whoever wrote the stand-in post!
