Feldard didn’t hesitate in continuing his brutal assault on the two remaining orcs that stood before him. He only hoped that the others were faring as well or better with the two that had gotten past him. Maruc continued to fight shoulder to shoulder with Feldard gleaning what he could from the Dwarfs’ superior combat technique. And, Nicolai joined him, attacking the orc closest to him.
Reassessing the situation Miklos quickly realised that Maruc and Feldard had successfully blocked the stairwell. He hoped no more would emerge from the deapths. “How many are you facing?” he urgently inquired of his two comrades.
“Just two Miklos, at the moment.” Maruc managed to reply whilest fending off a swift orcthrust.
This didn’t seem to be too much of a problem. What was more worrying was Saeth & Nicolai. They shouldn’y face the Wizard on their own without him. Denetiata would not be easily defeated. Miklos raced after the rogue.
As the group concentrated on the remaining two orcs, a shadowy figure that had silently been watching the battle decided it was time to act…
* * * * *
Moments earlier…
Thaddigren Dentiata could scarcely believe his ears when he heard the orc’s alarm call. How had the humble villagers of Sisak gotten past his defenses? No, he thought, these were no villagers. His sources in Specularum had not given any indication that the Duke or his allies knew of what he was doing here. There had been no warning that any authorities were on their way, so this must be something else. Perhaps the villagers had recruited some mercenaries to come to their aid. Or some wayfaring do-gooders. No matter, they would be dealt with.
The darkmage calmly made his way to the stairwell, confident that his orc guard were handling matters. Still, just to be safe, he tooks some precautions, casting a spell of protection upon himself. Now was not a time to be careless. Not today of all days. Not when he was getting so close.
He opened the door on the stairwell. From below he heard a voice yell at him in orcish. “Come quickly! Your help is needed!”
He sped his pace down the stairs, and rounded the corner in the spiral staircase to find himself confronted with an elven warrior maiden. Before he could even react, a dagger was airborn straight for him. Unfortunately for Saeth, when the dagger hit the magical barrier that protected Dentiata, it changed trajectory and bounced harmlessy into the wall. The sorceror had already begun casting a spell. As he finished speaking the arcane words, Saeth felt herself losing consciousness. She fought to stay awake, but the pull of the spell was too great. She fell to the ground in a deep slumber.
Thaddigren Dentiata cautiously made his way down the rest of the stairwell. He heard the sounds of battle in the main hall. He slowly approached the open door and looked inside. There were four of them, matched up against four of his orc henchmen. It was a motley lot. He decided to watch and see how they fared. Afterall, orc henchmen were a kopec for a dozen.
As the raiders cut down his guards, Dentiata finally decided that this had gone on long enough. He stepped into the room and raised his wand. It cast forth a cone of enchantment that swept over everyone in the room. The fighting ceased immediately and everyone dropped to the ground, instantly paralyzed by the power of the wand.
Everyone, except for one.
Only the dwarf, Feldard Scarredbrow, remained, thanks to his race’s natural resistance to magic. He now found himself alone with a dark wizard who had just felled every combatant in the room, and held an entire village in fear.

(LMAO gee thanks!)
The dwarf was more than a surprised when his opponents and the cleric at his side suddenly froze and fell. He turned about quickly to assess the situation and found himself in the unenviable position of being the sole party member left standing against – of all things – a supposedly evil mage.
Feldard spat out a colourful dwarven curse and moved out of the stairwell and further into the hall gripping his axe firmly. Damn all magic-casting humans and damn himself for getting involved with them!
Feldard knew all too well that they still had no proof of guilt against this mage though suspicious his actions and his hiring practices may be. He needed to try goading the mage into an admission.
“Thaddigren Dentiata no doubt… nice trick. What do you do for entertainment – train werewolves to snatch innocent villagers and their livestock? Or perhaps you’re into more darker activies? Soul trading perhaps? No? Then maybe bringing about the end of the world? Truly what constitues amusement for one such as you… a weakling human that has dreams of grandeur because he can put people to sleep out of sheer boredom with his mere presence? “
